Chris Jones, PhD, LCSW (he/him)
Hello and welcome! Life is a journey, and the therapeutic process can support us in making the most of it. Along the way, we can find new paths and discover new strengths and abilities. Whether your journey right now involves facing a challenge, seeking recovery, or rising to a new opportunity, I am here to support you with insight, tools, and techniques to help.
Who I Work With
I provide individual, group, and family therapy for young adults, adults, and couples seeking support in handling life transitions, fostering professional growth, healing from difficult experiences, managing emotions, transforming behavior patterns, and strengthening interpersonal relationships.
My Approach
I take a holistic, authentic, and collaborative approach to mental health and well-being. I invite you to come into the process exactly as you are.
I’ll work closely with you to understand your goals and tailor our treatment to help you make progress toward those goals. As you navigate your path of mental health and well-being, I’ll share information and techniques that are grounded in evidence, such as
- Understanding and leaning into your strengths.
- Mindfulness techniques informed by Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Through listening with compassion and curiosity, I’ll create a space where you can discover yourself, make sense of your journey, and ultimately put forth your best self in your life journey.
Clinical Experience and Training
I’ve been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for nearly 20 years, with training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family Systems Therapy. I use my training and experience to provide concrete tools and techniques for growth.
I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work and Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees from the University of Georgia. My B.S. in Sociology is from James Madison University.
As a therapist, I’m intensively trained in DBT and previously worked as a DBT therapist at Hillside Hospital, a residential treatment program in Atlanta. I also worked in community treatment programs in Georgia as an individual, group, and family therapist practicing CBT and Family Systems Therapy.
Health and Entrepreneurial Experience
My health and entrepreneurial experience enhance my holistic approach and enable me to understand quickly how professional challenges can affect you and your relationships.
As a health professional, I served as a behavioral scientist for mental health and public health programs, including senior leadership roles at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. I specialized in scaling evidence-based programs and applied research of interventions, policies, and prevention strategies. Much of my time in health has focused on chronic diseases, injury and violence prevention, and equitable access to healthcare for all.
I currently work in technology as an entrepreneur with a firm that helps organizations assess, develop, and implement their digital strategies. I support the company operations, provide guidance for our research initiatives, and serve as a mental health subject matter expert.
A Bit More About Me
I’m originally from Virginia, and lived in Vermont, Colorado, and North Carolina before moving to Georgia 25 years ago. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends, hiking with my dog, mountain biking, and gardening.
