Elaine Goldstone, NP, Master’s of Social Work Intern
she/her/hers

Welcome!

Starting therapy can feel daunting. My aim is to welcome clients to a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive space. Through curiosity and compassion, my hope is to help clients connect with all parts of themselves, especially to those parts that seem to get in the way of who they want to be or what they desire in life. I invite clients to see their experiences in a new light—appreciating, rather than judging, the ways they’ve learned to adapt to challenges and difficult environments.

Who I see

I work with adolescents (10 years old and up), adults, and families. I welcome individuals who identify as LGBTQI+, those from diverse backgrounds, and anyone searching for a therapeutic environment where they will be welcome exactly as they are.

What informs my practice

Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamic Theory, Attachment Theory, and Structural Family Therapy are the primary therapeutic modalities I use in practice. Mindfulness and meditation are incorporated as a way of accepting and grounding our experience in the midst of turmoil.

Fifteen years working as a nurse practitioner in community health helped shape my understanding of the ways physical and mental health are influenced by the systems in which we reside. Addressing how such systems impact our lives—whether in the form of gender or racialized oppression, economic or cultural injustice, or discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity—is an essential part of healing and empowerment. My experience in nursing/medicine has contributed to a holistic vision of health that includes attention to our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Who I am

Originally from Tennessee, I lived in North Carolina and New York City before relocating to Decatur with my kids and partner. I have also worked internationally in Ghana and Mexico. When I am not with clients, you can find me outdoors (preferably somewhere in the mountains), or reading, painting, doing yoga, or connecting with friends.

If you are interested in scheduling an appointment please contact me at elaine@eastatlantacounseling.com or call 404-480-2452. Sessions are held at the Decatur location or virtually.

As an intern under supervision, Elaine sees clients at a reduced rate of $75, and has sliding scale spots to see clients at an even lower rate upon request as needed.
