Tesia Brick Background

Tesia Robinson, LAPC, NRP, FP-C, CCRN, CFRN

I see first responders, EMS, firefighters, law enforcement, dispatchers, as well as active military, veterans, and healthcare professionals. I also work with men from all walks of life who appreciate a direct, practical approach to therapy, and clients interested in having a therapist with a critical care medical background.

I have worked in EMS since 2000 as a 911 paramedic, tactical paramedic, flight paramedic, and trauma nurse, working alongside law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and critical care teams in high-acuity, high-risk environments.

I understand how repeated exposure to trauma, violence, and death impacts people in both their work and private lives, along with the culture, identity, shift work, sleep deprivation, and chronic stress that come with the profession.

Many of the people I see have spent years taking care of everyone else while ignoring their own struggles. Therapy isn’t about taking away what makes someone good at the job, it’s about helping those same strengths work for them off duty, too.

Today, I bring that experience into therapy with a direct, candid, and practical approach infused with humor. My clinical focus includes traumatic events, complex PTSD, dissociation, anxiety, depression, anger, suicidality, and issues related to grief, death, and dying.

I work with my clients to identify the physical and psychological toll of their work and to reconcile the dualities of navigating two different worlds, on duty and off, while preserving the skills needed to remain effective in the field and on shift.

I utilize an integrative approach in trauma-focused work, drawing from CBT, DBT, EMDR, existentialism, and strengths-based approaches depending on the individual and their needs. I offer flexibility for shift work, and sliding scale options.

I hold dual licensure as a paramedic and registered nurse, with advanced certifications including FP-C, CFRN, and CCRN. My educational background includes a Master of Science in ClinicalMental Health Counseling from Georgia State University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mercer University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Charter Oak State College.

In addition to clinical work, I provide educational lectures and consultations to both first responder and mental health communities to enhance better understanding between first responder culture and mental health care.

I am a Colorado native, but Atlanta has my heart. I have lived here for nearly 25 years. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling with my son to recreate movie filming location shots, watching my daughter play softball, grilling in any kind of weather with my husband, volunteering with the historic preservation team at Oakland Cemetery, and relaxing with my dog, Tango. I am also a huge music fan and have an appreciation for tattoos and tattoo culture.
