Each of our therapists have their own niche and specific trainings.
First, we recommend you read each person’s bio so you get a feel for what therapy with them is like.
Secondly, if you need help, reach out to our admin/intake team!
We’re happy to learn a little about what you’re looking for in a therapist (specialties, personality, treatment approach, schedule, etc), so we can pair you with your best match.
We always say that the relationship comes first. If you for any reason don’t connect with your therapist, speak up! We want to hear what’s working and what’s not.
If it’s simply not a fit, we are more than happy to connect you with someone else who we think you’d do great work with — and that person may be in our practice or outside of our practice. Our goal is for YOU to find the best fit for YOU.
-
We currently have clinicians who have availability. We can typically schedule someone in about 1-2 weeks, depending on therapist’s availability and client’s needs.
-
We hear this more often than you might think. Just because therapy hasn't worked for you before doesn't mean therapy can't work for you. Sometimes we need a different relationship, a different approach, or a different level of readiness.
Sometimes it's about finding the right therapeutic relationship, and sometimes it's about finding an approach that better meets your needs.Talk therapy can be incredibly helpful, but insight alone doesn't always create change. Sometimes we need to go deeper to understand how our experiences show up in our bodies, nervous systems, relationships, and patterns of responding to the world.
That's why our clinicians draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (SE), IFS, DBT, RO DBT, DBR, EFT, Imago, and Chi for Two. We want to understand not just what's happening, but what's underneath it.
We also recognize that facing difficult experiences takes time. Our protective patterns developed for a reason, and therapy should provide the safety and relationship needed to explore those patterns at your own pace.
You don't have to give up on therapy just because it hasn't worked before. Sometimes, you just haven't found the right fit or the right approach yet.
-
Of course not. Start where you are.
Many people only know:
"I'm exhausted."
"I'm anxious."
"I'm snapping at everyone."
"I don't feel like myself."
Our job is to come alongside you to help you better understand yourself. We listen nonjudgmentally and help you learn what’s not working so we can make a treatment plan together for how to help you get back to yourself.
-
We see the whole lifespan, from age 4 to 104.
Getting Started
What to Expect
-
Before the first session, we have you fill out paperwork, like an informed consent, so you know what our business policies and procedures are.
In the first session, we mainly focus on getting to know you and building safety. We orient you to what to expect in therapy, including confidentiality and its limits.
Then, we ask about your goals, your history, what’s worked and what hasn’t. We make sure that you’re safe enough to start therapy. We answer any questions you have. We also begin to talk about a treatment plan, or the structure of how we will work towards your goals.Everything is collaborative, and there’s no pressure to know everything. If it’s not a good fit, say so! We’re more than happy to help you find the fit that’s best for you.
-
We have therapists with current availability, so we can likely get you into see someone within a week or two depending on need. Some clinicians only see certain ages or do specific modalities, so they may have a wait list.
-
Short answer: it depends. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all. We typically recommend starting with weekly sessions so your therapist can get to know you, understand your history, build a strong therapeutic relationship, and determine what approach will be most helpful.
The length of therapy depends on several factors, including the types of experiences you're working through, how safe you feel in relationships, your readiness for change, and your goals. Trauma therapy, especially when working through complex or relational trauma, can take a long time.
For single event trauma, such as a car wreck, EMDR Intensives may be an option. Depending on your history and treatment goals, some clients experience meaningful resolution in as little as four hours.
Our goal isn't to keep you in therapy indefinitely. It's to help you make meaningful, lasting changes at a pace that feels right for you.
-
Connection is central to therapy. If you and your therapist don’t gel, we always recommend you first discuss your concerns, requests, or thoughts with them directly.
If it’s not a good fit, reach out to our admin team, and we will happily connect you with either another therapist on our team, or someone outside of our practice that we trust and think would be your best fit.
Fees and Interns
-
For licensed clinicians, individual therapy rates start at $160 and go up to $225 depending on the therapist’s licensure, experience, and specialized training.
Couples and family therapy rates are typically $10-25 more than a clinician’s individual rate.
For groups, sessions are between $75-90 depending on type of therapy and length of session. -
No. We are private pay only. However, we are happy to provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We also have had many clients utilize single case agreements so that their insurance reimburses them for therapy as if they were seeing an in network provider.
-
Yes! Accessibility is an important value at EAC. We have excellent clinician interns who see clients starting at $75, but we tell them to slide to where the client can afford so that cost isn’t a barrier.
Every licensed therapist has their own sliding scale fee structure as well. -
An intern therapist is a masters-level or doctoral-level student completing the clinical training required for their degree in counseling or social work. While they are still completing their education, they are actively seeing clients and developing their clinical skills under the supervision of experienced, fully licensed clinicians and while getting feedback from their professors.
At EAC, our interns are thoughtfully selected and receive ongoing supervision, consultation, and support from our clinical team. They have access to experienced trauma-informed clinicians to help ensure clients receive thoughtful, ethical, and effective care.
Seeing an intern therapist can be a great way to access quality therapy at a reduced rate while working with someone who is passionate about learning, growing, and providing meaningful care.
