“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” — Brené Brown

If you're feeling anxious, burned out, emotionally stuck, or just not quite like yourself – you’re not alone. Sometimes, the things we experienced growing up show up in our lives in ways that are hard to understand. Maybe you learned to keep the peace, take care of everyone else, or work hard to earn love and approval. Now, you find yourself overthinking, feeling anxious, putting pressure on yourself, or struggling to feel connected to others or yourself. Together we can explore the ways you learned to navigate relationships and keep yourself safe so you can begin to move beyond simply getting by and feel more connected, more present, and more alive.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is grounded in relational psychotherapy, which means we pay attention to how your past experiences and relationships may be shaping the way you feel, relate to others, and see yourself today. Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be difficult to understand, the parts of you that have learned to protect you, and what it feels like to show up authentically in a relationship where you feel seen, supported, and understood.

I also incorporate Somatic Experiencing (SE), which focuses on the connection between your mind and body. Sometimes, our bodies hold onto stress and experiences that are difficult to put into words. Through gently noticing body sensations, emotions, and your nervous system’s responses, we can begin to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and build a greater sense of safety within yourself.

Who I Work With

Teens & Young Adults

For those navigating the pressures of school, family dynamics, relationships, and figuring out who they are. You may feel overwhelmed by expectations, uncertain about the future, or like you need to have everything figured out already. Therapy can be a space to slow down, feel understood, and learn to trust yourself as you grow into who you are becoming.

Adults

For adults who feel stuck in patterns they can't quite make sense of. Maybe you're used to holding it all together, overthinking every decision, or putting pressure on yourself to get things right. You may find yourself navigating high anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, relationship conflict, grief, or a constant sense of responsibility for others. Perhaps you're beginning to notice how past experiences and relationships continue to shape the way you see yourself, connect with others, or move through the world. Therapy can be a space to get curious about the patterns you've developed, understand what they've been trying to protect, and begin making room for new ways of relating to yourself and others.

About Me

I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University with trainings in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and I am in year two of a three year Somatic Experiencing training with Somatic Experiencing International (SEI). Before graduate school, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Georgia College and worked in consulting.

Outside of the therapy room, I find joy in spending time with my dog, drinking good coffee, thrifting, traveling, moving my body through yoga and strength training, and watching my favorite shows on repeat.

I feel really grateful to do this work and to get to know the people who trust me with their stories. You deserve a life where you feel authentic, connected, and free. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

If you would like to book with me, you can book a free phone consultation here.  You can also contact me directly at hannah@eastatlantacounseling.com or 678-948-8024.

I am located at our Decatur location for in-person and telehealth sessions.
